Congratulations Shazi!

Ground Rules Academy had its first competitor in March. Shazi Lodhi competed in the BJJ Tour All Star Tournament at Las Positas College, won both of his matches, took home gold, and make it look easy (fyi, it's not easy). Congratulations to Shazi for all of his hard work in preparation for the tournament, and thank you very much to those who came out to support.

Talk to me if you're interested in competing. Competition is an excellent way to challenge yourself and grow as a human. But it can also be intense, which is why we generally do not encourage competition without several months of training experience.

April 2025 Curriculum

It will be a balanced month. We won't survive very long if we do not continually hone our defensive skills, which is why defensive grappling is a top priority for our academy.

At the same time, we can't get good a defense if we're not being attacked by training partners who are skilled offensively. Plus offense is kinda fun. So we're going to do both.

Curriculum by week for Ground Rules Academy includes takedown defense, back control escapes, guard sweeps, side control submissions, and turtle attacks
